My exit paper in college was based on wireless technology and where its going. I truly believe that wireless technology will change the way we use the internet in an always connected way. This generation is a based on a communication NOW mission and wireless internet and communication technology will be the transport. Rob Bertholf, CEO foretold this need for up-to-the-minute communication by creating ZeppOS total website management. Click Done. The 700MHz band is the new transport for this technology. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) mandates that by Feb 19, 2009 that the entire UHF TV band will be switched over to digital. This opens the whole 700MHz band up for grabs. The price of the entire spectrum is set for more than 30 billion dollars. However the auction will occur in blocks. A large block has a bidding reserve of 4.6 billion and this reserve has just been exceeded. The prospective bidders are Verizon, Google, and other smaller companies. This band is costly and coveted because this 700MHz band is a lower frequency. This means you can transmit further at lower power. In other words, 1.4GHz - 2.4GHz (current cell phone traffic) transmits at 5 mile per tower where 700MHz can transmit to more than 20miles per tower with the same amount of power. What does that mean for us as a company? It means that we are way ahead of our time. As this communication revolution begins its next stage of development, more and more people are going to be looking for a way to update their website on the fly using their personal communication device. In the next 2 years, we are going to see a huge change in how people are connected this global network we call the internet.
